KMPG Professorships

Higher Education propels the advancement and dissemination of knowledge. At the root is a very important individual: the professor. The KPMG Foundation acknowledges the central role faculty play in the academic process through the KPMG Professorships. These nationally recognized professorships, established and funded by the KPMG Foundation, are a tribute to the dedication of distinguished business school faculty.

KPMG Supported Professors
Together, KPMG and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign initiated an innovative program in 1997: the Business Measurement Case Development and Research Program(BMP). Both KPMG and the University of Illinois are committed to facilitating efforts within the profession to transform its core services and help higher education learn more about emerging assurance technologies. This ongoing, competitive program supports the development of educational materials that help faculty members provide students with rich and realistic experiences applying the concepts and framework presented in Auditing Organizations Through a Strategic-Systems Lens (Bell et al., 1997).

Focused on a leading-edge audit approach, BMP is a partnership between KPMG and a leading academic institution. KPMG professionals work together with professors funded under the program to develop educational materials. The program also supports follow-on scholarly research on issues relating to the further development of strategic-systems auditing.

To date, 23 case development proposals have been funded, totalling $814,546.00. Funded proposals are authored by professors from the following schools:

The collective impact of many individual donations gathered into larger contributions is a distinct benefit of the Matching Gift Program. Through the KPMG Foundation, KPMG LLP partners and employees can contribute to their alma mata or a school where the firm actively recruits, a convenience that resulted in $4.0 million in donations during 1999. Matching gifts supports faculty research, attendance at academic conferences, and the many needs of faculty, departments, business school and the universities at large.
